2 Prom hairstyles!
It may not be prom "season" yet but it's always good to be prepared and have a few hairstyle options in mind. I'll be showing two hairstyles which are suitable for any formal event, prom included!
Half up-do
This look is perfect for medium-long hair lengths if you still want some of the hair out and loose. I did this hairstyle on my aunt as she asked me to do her hair for her birthday since it was a formal event!
STEP 1] Curl your hair
STEP 2] Section off three sections down from the crown of your head, leave the middle one by itself
STEP 3] Plait the outer two sections into Dutch braids (ie you plait the strands UNDER the middle one). Pancake the two braids (ie gently tug at the rounded edge of each braid to made it wider and more volumized)
STEP 4] Join these two plaits in the middle of the head.
STEP 5] Get a section of hair from the right side, just under the plait, and bring it over the middle, just to hide where the two plaits are tied up. Pin in place. Do the same with a strand of hair from the left side. Use hairspray to secure!
Plaited up-do
For those of you who want to have their hair up for prom, I think this is a perfectly stylish and elegant look. This is also a DIY look because I did it on myself!
STEP 1] Part your hair down the middle and start a Dutch braid on one side. Once you go down and reach the middle of the neck, stop adding in hair and just finished the braid.
STEP 2] Now start a Dutch braid on the other side, again going down to the middle of the neck. Once no more hair is left to add in, just finish off the braid.
STEP 3] Using both the plaits, bring them round and make a bun, securing with pins as you twist around. Use hairspray!
If you want to add a bit of "fun" or sparkle to the hair-do, you could put in a few hair pins with flowers/gems in the plaits. The Internet if full of different shapes/colours. Here's some I found:
Hope you liked the blog post, if you did give it a like and follow! See you soon!
Love them both! ❤
